Grid crack workaround

The latest svn now has a new attribute

Attribute "aqsis" "expandgrids" [0.01]

Which allows the well-known grid cracking problem to be worked around in some instances. As described in this forum thread, it works quite well for opaque surfaces, but fails with semitransparent surfaces or with shadows generated using "depthfilter" "midpoint".

Before:After applying "expandgrids" 0.03:

Significant Improvements To Texturing

Chris Foster has been busy working on the replacement texturing library. His work is really showing some great results now, take a look at this thread for more details.

This work will be part of the upcoming 1.4 release, including piqsl and other significant improvements.

Attention CAE users!

If you are into computer aided engineering/drawing and want to render pretty pictures you can use Symscape's SymLab. SymLab is an inexpensive CAE/CAD/CFD solution that allows the rendering of design data with Aqsis via its VIZ export add-on.

Happy drawin!

Meeting Sunday 13th

The wiki page for this Sunday's meeting is up. Discussion topics initially include the Beaker Bucket Overlap Cache proposal, which is now in Approval status. The long proposed refactor/rebuild of the Aqsis website.

As usual, the meeting schedule is open for input from any and all attendees. If anyone, developer or otherwise, has anything they wish to discuss in the formal structure of the meeting, please feel free to add a new discussion topic to the meeting page.

See you all there.

Paul
